My Day.

Back Story: We have a patient at work that has been there for 3 ish months. She had a stroke and is recovering. She is now able to talk and is getting better daily with her walking. She had moved down here to take care of mom who has Alzheimers. So while she has been at the hospital mom has been left to her own devices. She hasn't bathed or eaten properly in the 3 months the patient has been gone. The neighbors have been sending meals when they cook but that is all. Mom doesn't know who she is, where she is, what year it is. The neighbors say she comes to the house every morning asking where her daughter is because she can't find her. Our social worker at work contacted DHR when the patient arrived 3 months ago with no real response. Add 20 cats and 2 dogs.

Today: Sara that I work with takes care of the patient every day we work. So Sara is attached and promised her she would go and check on mom and the animals. Ms. patient gave Sara a list of each animal including names and colorings and markings. So we go over there today. The neighbor lets us in and tells us that DHR came out yesterday and took mom and 4 cats and 2 dogs. After mom had wandered into the road twice and had fallen and almost been hit. So the house is empty. I wore jeans (thank goodness I hadn't shaved in a week or so) Sara wore shorts. We entered the house. You could smell from outside that it wasn't gonna be pretty. We entered and the smell was awful. Sara said as soon as she walked in it was like sandblasting her legs with all the fleas hitting and biting her. Sara found the pt's purse which was a goal item. We then continued through. I checked the other rooms while Sara collected other goal items. I went to open one of the doors and the door only opened 10 inches or so. I look down and there is a dead cat. I look closer and it appears that there are multiple dead cats piled by the door. There is electronics knocked off the dresser like the cats were trying to get out. The cats had been there for so long that they were gooey. (Have you seen Bones? Simiarities exist) So I closed that door and moved on. I have never seen such things before. I hope to never do so again. And the smell. I will probably have nightmares. So out of the 20 cats DHR found 4 and took the dogs which were outside. So there are 16 cats hiding or dead in the house. It is a mess.

Moral: Have friends or family so that when you get sick things don't go to shit. That is the problem. She has no one.

The girls visit

For their spring break my nieces Jezzia and Zoi came to see me.

o
They broke out my old barbies and such that Rusty and I played with as a child. Some serious 80's outfits.

I bought the girls birthday cakes from Pollmans. I thought they were cute.

We went to the Exploreum to see the human body exhibit. We watched the imax video on the Grand Canyon. It was pretty. The next day we went to the Mobile Museum to see the pirate exhibit. It was much smaller than I hoped.

We also stopped to see Brian. Zoi picked a flower from his bushes and made him stick his finger in the pollen for the photos. Children are so strange sometimes.

Then we had playtime outside at my house. I have serious mosquito problems. Poor girls had spots all over them.

Jack made it through well. He didn't attack the girls too much. I think they liked him ok. If we can only get the puupy nibbling softened it will be better. We had a good time though.

Meet Jack.

It seems like he has grown so much in a week.

New Puppy (as yet unnamed)

Kenny and I have been talking about getting a dog for a while now. So we went to pet smart today and they had a adoption going on. This is the little guy we picked.
We haven't decided what to name him yet. Will keep you updated ( and sorry about keeping you on the edge of your seat about that).

He's feisty.

Giles checking out the competition. Rygel has been surprisingly well received to the new arrangement.

Sleeping.

The yard seems small until he arrived. Now its huge.

Attack!

So tiny. He is 6 weeks old.

He likes to chew.

Thor Comes to Visit

Brian asked me to Thor sit when he goes to New Orleans next weekend. I asked for a meet and greet. Giles wasn't interested and Rygel was no where to be found.

We had stepped outside and Giles relocated to the bedroom while we were gone. He did not rejoice at our return.

This one you need to enlarge to see the poof he had going on. I wanted to see what Rygel looked like with his hair like this but he refused to come out from under the bed.
